How many of you conjure kombucha in your kitchens? The starting process takes 2–5 weeks, although many enthusiast’s will try to tell you it takes only 2 weeks to grow scoby — it will have you waiting confusingly as you spend your money buying these brands or the packaged brands on Amazon.

Yes, Retailers DO sell it dry but not in a bulk powder. There are TWO kinds of kombucha.
Probiotics and Prebiotics:
Prebiotics, (greens, oats, teas, etc) aren’t fermented and Probiotics, (yogurt, wine, sauerkraut) are. These are known as “good bacteria” or “gut bacteria”.
How To Make A Scoby:
You’ll need black tea with sugar BOILED AND READY, you’ll want to make sure it’s a pure brand or go into a small shop and grab two premade bottles if you don’t have time. Much like Cancer the SCOBY will feed off the sugar particles. You don’t want too much sugar the bottles I used were pure leaf tea with 28 grams.
I am on WEEK 2 and the scoby is preparing to launch to the top of my glass container. By week four it will be floating at the top of the glass kombucha jar. I have a 3 gallon glass jar from Hobby Lobby. I didn’t use cheese cloth I used a bread couche, unprinted cotton cloth and or proofing cloth. You tie it with a rubber band or wrap it tightly with thread. You’ll want to burp the kombucha once a week.
Once the SCOBY grows, you’ll want to clean everything and transfer the scoby to a fresh black tea with sugar and then add your fruit choices for flavoring infusions. You don’t want your kombucha to touch plastic at all. These are living organisms. After you collect so many Scobys you can make a Scoby hotel in a large mason. The scobys can be ate with fork.
